This is an excellent opportunity to join the Regional Adoption Agency, Adoption East Midlands, and to make a positive contribution to permanence for children through adoption, supporting families who wish to adopt from their first expression of interest through to the adoption order.

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Social Work England registered social worker who has at least 3 years post qualifying experience, with excellent interpersonal and assessment skills.

You will be joining an established team of social workers within the Assessment and Placement Team based across Adoption East Midlands and specialise in the assessment and training of prospective adoptive parents. The successful candidate will be instrumental in assessing applicants, writing assessments and supporting prospective adopters at adoption panel and then helping adopters with home finding and placement of adoptive children. You will need to evidence an understanding of the importance of permanence for children and the need for therapeutic parenting. An ability to write clear, concise and analytical assessments is a core skill of this position.

It is essential that you are IT literate and ideally have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and a willingness to use other IT packages. Given the nature of the role, a valid driving licence and access to a car is also essential.

The successful candidate will be also expected to contribute to improving outcomes for children and families and understand the concept of safeguarding children within adoption.

The successful candidate will receive regular supervision and be part of a supportive team environment. You will be supported to continue to develop your skills and knowledge.
