Expressions of interest are sought from employees of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Local Authorities and their partners for a 12-month fixed term Programme Manager role.  Secondments are welcomed, please seek the agreement of your current employer, prior to applying. 

The Programme Manager will deliver on the ambition of the Councils of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire to work closely together on a series of projects to tackle critical issues, with the core aim of changing things for the better for local people.

The Councils’ have committed to closer collaboration, to bring much needed investment into our area and capitalise on the opportunities presented by the awaited publication of the Government’s Levelling Up White Paper.  Namely, for powers currently controlled by central Government to be devolved to our local area.

The role will be required to:

  • Build positive relationships with senior stakeholders, including Elected Members and Senior Officers from the City, County and seven District and Borough Councils.
  • Clarify the vision and develop detailed scopes for the Councils’ priority themes, outlined in the above Case for devolution, including: Education and Skills; Transport; Environment; Economy and Infrastructure; Land and Housing; Youth services and support to vulnerable families and young people.
  • Define and plan programme and project sequencing to ensure the successful delivery of the Councils’ objectives, in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Manage a small programme team and coordinate resources from across the partnership, to ensure appropriate skills are in place to deliver programmes and projects.
  • Ensure that robust reporting and governance is in place to effectively monitor and track programme delivery. Including the development of an effective reporting framework to facilitate regular progress updates to a variety of forums, including a legally constituted joint committee of all councils.
