Occupational Therapist

Following a workforce review, Adult Social Care have implemented a new working model which has built on the success of new ways of working, simplifying the customer journey to give a better customer experience and meet people needs as early as possible.

The Maximising Independence Service (MIS) is a new service in ASCH which is focused on early resolution, prevention, promoting independence and wellbeing for all people. 

So, if you would like to be part of our future workforce and the development of the OT roles in MIS, we would like to hear from you whether you are an experienced or newly qualified OT.  Our expansion of OT posts in MIS recognises the importance of specialist knowledge and expertise to enable people to meet their needs by focusing on a strengths-based and therapy-led approach.

MIS OTs will support people, families, carers, colleagues to deal with enquiries by signposting, providing advice and information and be the lead worker until individuals issues are resolved, this will include prevention and re-ablement services to improve their independence and wellbeing

As part of the service your OT skills and knowledge will be key in promoting the principles of choice and control, personalisation and self-directed support to enable people achieve their goals. You will be working alongside other Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Community Care Officers in a fast paced, supportive team. A sound knowledge base of relevant social care and housing legislation is required. You will be responsible for a case load and provision of equipment, adaptations and safe working practices. The post holders will be significant in developing these roles by supporting people, families and carers.

You will receive regular supervision both formally and informally from an Occupational Therapy Senior Practitioner and will be supported to attend training to progress your career and meet the HCPC’s CPD requirements. There will be opportunities to expand your knowledge and competencies around safeguarding and mental capacity work.

Applicants must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and be registered with the HCPC. For Band B requirements you must have at least 2 years’ experience as a qualified OT.
