Are you able to encourage, support and engage with children and families to promote participation in all aspects of service delivery?

This is an excellent opportunity to join the Children’s Disability Service, based in Mansfield; working with families across Nottinghamshire. The team comprises Social Workers, Social Work Support Officers and Practice Consultants and is part of a well-resourced service, which incorporates the following:

  • a county wide Occupational Therapy Team,
  • three specialist residential short break services and a dedicated short breaks foster care service
  • a dedicated Integrated Children’s Disability Service that collaborates with education, health and voluntary sector colleagues as well as private providers to provide extensive leisure and other services and support for disabled children and their families.

The Children’s Disability Team aims to safeguard and promote the welfare and development of disabled children whilst supporting children to be cared for by their families at home. We do this by working closely with children, parents/carers and colleagues in other agencies

This is a good time to join a dedicated team for disabled children as there have been many new and innovative developments in practice, including the introduction of personal budgets and Education, Health and Care plans. There has been significant investment in our service to enable a more integrated local service to families. Both senior management and the Council are committed to maintaining safe caseloads and supervision ratios as the basis for good practice and to enable workers opportunities to reflect on their practice and the Children’s Services Department has been awarded a ‘Good’ outcome across all of its services following an Ofsted inspection.

We are looking for four enthusiastic qualified Social Workers with a broad knowledge of social work practice and legislation, including safeguarding, who are able to demonstrate excellent assessment and analysis skills. You will be committed to using the full range of your social work skills to promote and safeguard the welfare and development of disabled children and assist their carers (including young carers) by means of creative, innovative and timely care and support planning and intervention.

Proven experience of working with disabled children is desirable but not essential.

You would have access to the following:

•Manageable caseloads

•Regular and effective supervision

•Mobile working and improved work/life balance

•Good levels of business and admin support

•Internal transfer scheme between teams

•A comprehensive range of CPD options, including links to local Universities

•Practice Consultants based in every social work team

•Leadership Development & Aspirant Managers Programme

•Potential to earn an extra £9,000 over 3 years when you join key frontline teams

•Up to £5,000 relocation package

•Excellent employee benefits

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
