Full Time
St Peter’s CofE (VC) Junior School, Ashworth Avenue, Ruddington, Nottingham, NG11 6GB
IPR L18 to L24

Number on roll: 368

Start date: 1 January, 2020

Our current headteacher John Mapperley leaves us at the end of December. Our school aim is to be ‘A Place for All to Flourish’ and, as such, we are committed to a view of education which seeks to develop the whole child, both academically and personally. The governors are now seeking to appoint a headteacher to build on John’s legacy at this popular, forward thinking three form entry junior school.

St Peter’s is located in the large village of Ruddington in the borough of Rushcliffe, 5 miles south of Nottingham and within a few miles of the Leicestershire border.

At our last inspection in January 2017 we were judged to be good and were praised for the quality of our teaching, the school’s inclusivity and for the range of opportunities and experiences that we offer our children. The full inspection report is available on the Ofsted website. Standards at St Peter’s are good and are typically above the national average by the end of Key Stage 2.

We are active members of the Rushcliffe Learning Alliance, a collaboration of local schools committed to providing mutual challenge and support and also part of the George Spencer Teaching School Alliance.

A visit to our school website at http://www.stpetersjunior.org.uk, and school twitter page @StPetersRud will provide you with lots of additional information about our school and will, we hope, inspire you to apply for the role of headteacher.

What we can offer you is:

  • A reflective, innovative teaching staff committed to doing their very best for our children.
  • Children who are very keen to learn and love coming to school.
  • Very strong community and parental engagement with our school.
  • An experienced, committed and supportive governing body.
  • A well cared for, well-resourced spacious building with exceptionally extensive grounds, providing a range of exciting learning opportunities for our children.
  • A family atmosphere, a real sense of community and an excellent working environment.
  • A strong financial position.

The person we are looking for will have:

  • A holistic view of education and a desire to give our children memorable learning experiences.
  • A strong commitment to pupils’ welfare and well-being.
  • An understanding of how to build on, and further develop, the excellent practice that already exists at our school.
  • A strong track record, both as a teacher and school leader.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • The flair to see the fantastic opportunities our school has to offer and the drive to make things happen.

This is a great opportunity for a senior leader aspiring to headship, or an experienced head ready for a new challenge.
