Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) Building Cleaning Service in conjunction with Lantern Lane Primary School require a new Caretaker. Working a 15 hour week you will be required to clean and maintain the new annex building and offer a range of caretaking services at both the annex and main school for the benefit of pupils, parents and staff.

Due to the increasing population of East Leake, Lantern Lane Primary School has expanded with a new annex building developed across the road from the main Primary School building. NCC and Lantern Lane Primary are therefore looking for a dedicated individual to be employed to work as a caretaker to maintain the new building.

The post will involve working a morning and afternoon split shift. You will be a key holder and will be responsible for the opening and locking of the building, including un-setting and setting of alarms. Duties will include cleaning of the annex building, maintenance of outside areas – including litter picking and emptying of bins, general building maintenance and repairs, compliance tests such as weekly legionella flushing and fire alarm testing, window cleaning during holiday periods, porterage duties between the Primary School and Annex building, heating maintenance, inducting and supervising contractors when on site and all other general caretaking and maintenance duties as requested.

This position could also be combined with the 10 hour per week Cleaning Supervisor Post currently being advertised at East Leake Academy to provide a 25 hour per week position.

You should have a keen eye for detail and be able to demonstrate a practical knowledge of DIY skills.

You will need to be smart in appearance, wearing a provided uniform and need to be flexible in your approach to lettings, for which additional payments will be made. We would want you to work positively with staff and parents and be a good team worker.

Previous experience of this type of work would be advantageous but ideally we are looking for someone with interest and a high degree of commitment to ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff, children and visitors to the school. Training will be provided.

We are committed to protecting the well being of children following the ‘Safer Recruiting’ procedures when making appointments and therefore this post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, medical and satisfactory references.

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
