We are looking to appoint one Promoting Independence Workers to join the North Notts Enabling Service (NES).

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a creative and dynamic environment with a forward thinking team which includes; Promoting Independence Workers, a transitions Community Independence Worker, an Occupational Therapist, a Team Leader and Coproduction Workers.

As a Promoting Independence Worker in the Notts Enabling Service, you will work with adults under the age of 65 years with a broad range of disabilities and health problems. There is also opportunity to work with young people (from 17 years) in transition from children's services to adults.

You will focus on improving people’s skills,and enabling people to lead enriched lives, through provision of short term interventions to meet identified goals. This could involve identifying and introducing opportunities for voluntary/paid work, teaching people how to get around using public transport, teaching skills within the home (cooking, budgeting and daily routines), or connecting individuals with educational/vocational courses, and reducing social isolation.

You will work with people for up to 12 weeks, focusing on mutually agreed goals using a strengths based model. We are therefore looking for creative and forward thinking individuals who are highly motivated, creative and enthusiastic. You must be able to deliver enablement work within targets set, and enable people to reach their goals in an organised and efficient way. Therefore we are looking for applicants with a high level of commitment and a passion for bringing about positive change for the people we work with.

You will need great interpersonal and communication skills and have a ‘can do’ attitude. We are seeking applicants with patience, empathy and emotional resilience. You need vision and creativity to be a successful Promoting Independence Worker and will have the opportunity to contribute your ideas to the wider development of the service.

The successful applicants will be offered a comprehensive induction, relevant on-going training, weekly progression meetings and regular  supervision.

This post will involve visiting people in their own homes, so it is essential to be a car driver with your own vehicle.

The North Notts Enabling Service covers Newark, Bassetlaw & Mansfield areas but there may be a requirement to work across the other districts of the county to meet the needs of the business, when/if required.

The North NES team are based at Welbeck House, Sherwood Energy Village but you will work flexibly across various sites, using touchdown in other offices where appropriate.
