Home based – residence up to 25 mile radius from Gainsborough considered (North Notts, north Lincolnshire, Scunthorpe, Doncaster)
£206 per week per child plus fostering allowances (Paid pro-rata depending on number of days with young people in place)

We are looking to recruit support foster carers for a brother and sister aged 10 and 8 years of age respectively. The children are placed in full time foster care and we would like a couple or a single carer who could provide a regular monthly weekend link plus summer school holiday cover in July.

The children each have several interests and enjoy trips to the seaside, swimming and playing on their carers’ trampoline. They are placed near Gainsborough and there will be an expectation that some transporting will be undertaken to and/from visits.

Support care is known to be essential in maintaining strong long-term foster placements. This link is specifically for these children and the successful applicant will be managed and supported by the Fostering Futures team. Further support care links will be explores if the successful applicant(s) is interested. Carers will be approved after successfully completing NCC’s fostering assessment and pre-approval training and must:

  • have two spare rooms
  • be committed to ongoing and regular training and development
  • be excellent communicators, working closely with a range of other professionals and organisations
  • be excellent relationship-builders with young people
  • be resilient and able to ‘go the extra mile’ in maintaining placements in adverse circumstances.

The following is desirable:

  • experience of working with young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs, either in a related professional context (e.g. teaching, youth work, social care) or as an experienced foster carer
  • a relevant qualification (e.g. NVQ in child care, degree in social work or youth work or teaching)
  • be able to or have experience of using theoretical ideas and models in understanding and working practically alongside young people (e.g. attachment theory, knowledge of autism, child development, mental health)

Fostering Futures Support foster carers are receive a fee of £206 per week per child, plus the basic weekly fostering allowances paid pro-rata depending on number of days the young people are placed.

Foster carers are required to complete an annual self-assessment form and are responsible for their own Income Tax and National Insurance. Ongoing training and support will be provided.
