The Gedling CMHT are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated, qualified social worker, with experience of working with a mental health client group. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a specialist team offering assessment and commissioning support to people experiencing mental health difficulties in the community and in planning their discharge from psychiatric hospitals. The team also assesses the needs of vulnerable adults. Ideally the post holder will already be an Approved Mental Health Professional or actively seeking the training to qualify. You will be working in accordance with the new Care Act; Mental Health Act; Mental Capacity Act and carer legislation. Good communication; time management and IT skills are essential. The team has a long history of multidisciplinary and partnership working with other agencies, so you must have confidence to chair meetings and make decisions under pressure. As this can be a complex and at times challenging client group you will need to have experience in positive risk taking and risk management. You must be able to cope with continuing change in the working environment. You will also undertake adult safeguarding investigations and present reports for mental health tribunals. It is an expectation to offer support to students and supervisory support to Community Care Officers in the team. This can be one of the most rewarding service areas in social work and the team offers good support within a friendly atmosphere. You will receive regular supervision and have access to appropriate training and opportunities for personal development.
