Adoption East Midlands (AEM) is a Regional Adoption Agency delivering adoption services (recruitment, adoption panels and adoption support) on behalf of Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Local Authorities. The service is hosted by Nottinghamshire County Council, who are also the employer.

AEM recruit in the region of 80 adoptive families a year, place approximately 150 children and support approximately 800 families at any one time. The staff group is approximately 80 FTE and AEM seeks to be a reflective and dynamic employer and service provider. Operational since April 2019, this is an exciting time in our development as we continue to shape our service to meet the demands of and challenges within the sector by developing new working practices and models of support to ensure children and young people and their families are fully and effectively supported throughout their adoption journey.

We are now seeking to recruit two qualified and experienced social workers to join our established and highly supportive team who specialise in providing a timely and empowering response to families when reflecting on, assessing and supporting their identified adoption support needs and ability to parent their children therapeutically. As well as effective utilisation of the Adoption Support Fund, we are committed to the ongoing development of our team and are proactive in utilising existing knowledge and skills within the team as well as providing on-going training & development opportunities for all.

In addition to working with children, young people and their families, we are actively involved in providing a service to Adopted Adults through Birth Records, Counselling, and Access to Records.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact the Team Manager’s: Lisa Drummond (07773 370834) or Vicky Pike (07787 101482)

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
