Health Related Education Team Specialist Teacher
An exciting opportunity has arisen in Nottinghamshire County Council’s Health Related Education Team (HRET) for a specialist teacher post. Working under the guidance of the HRET Locality Lead for North Nottinghamshire, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of Nottinghamshire County Council’s statutory duties in relation to children who are unable to access school due to health and medical needs.
The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching children and young people who are unable to attend school due to physical/medical health needs, as well as mental health difficulties such as anxiety. Close liaison with parents/carers, schools and partner agencies in the Local Authority and Health forms a key part of the role. You will be maintaining accurate data and information related to children with medical and health needs requiring or receiving support from HRET, and producing accurate reports, recommendations and information for senior officers, parents/carers, schools and others as required. You will be developing and maintaining expert knowledge in relation to health-related education, special educational needs and school attendance.
You will have:
- Qualified teacher status
- A minimum of 3 years post-qualification teaching experience
- A high level of personal drive and commitment to excellent customer care and the ability to set an example for other staff
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, make decisions and solve problems
- Ability to meet agreed objectives and delivery targets by the effective use of resources
- Ideally, the ability to teach Key Stage 4 Maths
Teaching sessions can be in the pupil’s home, school, HRET Base or community setting. The area covered by this post covers Bassetlaw, Newark & Sherwood, Mansfield and Ashfield areas. The post holder will need daily access to a car. MPS/UPS + SEN 1 £2270 pro rata.
