Health Related Education Team (HRET) are seeking to recruit a specialist teacher (MPS/UPS + SEN £2270) for a fixed term 2 year contract.  Working under the guidance of the Locality Lead for South Nottinghamshire, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of Nottinghamshire County Council’s statutory duties in relation to children who are unable to access school due to health and medical needs.  The post involves teaching children of statutory school age who are unable to access school due to health needs. Teaching sessions are in the pupil’s home, school or community setting. The postholder will also need to liaise closely with parents/carers, schools, and partner agencies in the Local Authority and Health.

This post covers the South of the County: Rushcliffe, Gedling, Broxtowe and Hucknall.  Access to a car is essential.  You will be maintaining accurate data and information related to children with medical and health needs requiring or receiving support from HRET, and producing accurate reports and information for senior officers, schools and others as required. You will be developing and maintaining expert knowledge in relation to health-related education, special educational needs and school attendance.

You will have:

  • Qualified teacher status
  • Minimum of 3 years post qualification teaching experience
  • Experience of working collaboratively with a range of colleagues and agencies, including health partners
  • Knowledge and ability to teach across a range of subjects and key stages

 The post involves peripatetic teaching across South Nottinghamshire.
