The Public Health division at Nottinghamshire County Council commissions a range of Public Health services and works with other organisations to improve health and wellbeing in the population and to reduce health inequalities.

Are you a highly motivated with a passion for helping  support vulnerable people? This is an exciting opportunity to take on a Substance Misuse leadership role within the Public Health division at Nottinghamshire County Council.

Qualified to degree level in Public Health or a related subject, or with equivalent demonstrable experience, you’ll have experience of Public Health practice, with a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of the main issues and influences affecting these areas, ideally including experience of substance misuse services. You will have excellent communication and partnership working skills, and be able to develop strategic and influencing relationships with senior staff, elected members, external organisations and partners. You will be accountable to a Senior Public Health and Commissioning Manager and will work in a complex, multi-agency environment. You will have a flexible approach and be aware of the needs of the substance misuse agenda including the local delivery of From Harm to Hope the new National Drugs Strategy.

Your portfolio will be to deliver and implement local requirements of From Harm to Hope and develop the Local Partnership Board in Nottinghamshire. You will be part of the Substance Misuse  Public Health and Commissioning team working closely with Districts and Borough Councils, Police and Crime Commissioners Office, Police, NHS and the commissioned service CGL Nottinghamshire.

Depending on individual circumstances you will initially be primarily based remotely at home or at County Hall.

Nottinghamshire County Council has an NHS Pension Direction Order in place, which means that we are able to provide ongoing access to the NHS Pension Scheme (NHSPS) where we recruit eligible new joiners to public health roles who are already in the NHSPS.
