North Ashfield Behaviour and Attendance Trust, SPACE Learning Centre, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, NG17 7DT
£14,615 – 15,238 FTE

We are looking to appoint two Teaching Assistants within our KS4 alternative provision. The successful candidates will be paired with one of our year groups and will support their learning in academic subjects.

The role will include:

• Working with groups and individuals in and out of the classroom to support individual learning needs

• Monitoring the progress of individual students in line with their targets (academic and behavioural)

• Supervising students during breaks and lunchtimes

You will also have the opportunity to develop additional courses in areas that are of interest to you.

Previous experience of working in an education environment or as a Teaching Assistant is not essential; candidates must have a genuine passion for working with disadvantaged and challenging young people. This is an ideal opportunity for those interested in gaining the vital experience required for a career in teaching.

The post is part-time, 28 hours over 4 days.

An opportunity to join our exciting provision

The Trust is the incorporation of the School Behaviour and Attendance Partnership (SBAP) in North Ashfield. To date, the partnership between Ashfield School, Kirkby College, Quarrydale Academy and Sutton Community Academy has been extremely effective in lowering permanent exclusion rates and supporting young people at risk of permanent exclusion. However, our work isn’t exclusively about behaviour; we support students from a variety of backgrounds, and with a wide range of issues that often make access to mainstream education a challenging prospect.

The partnership established the highly successful SPACE Learning Centre over four years ago, providing intervention and alternative education in North Ashfield. Owing to the introduction of a new KS4 programme, the centre has expanded to offer better provision for young people in North Ashfield.
