£15,375 - £16,491 p.a. (£7.97 - £8.55 per hour): A Living Wage Allowance is payable on all hours worked to bring the pay rate for this post up to £8.55 per hour.

Building Cleaning Services in conjunction with the Governing Body are seeking to employ a Caretaker to join our existing cleaning team.


The successful applicant will be required to clean and maintain the fabric of the school to a high standard and offer a dedicated range of caretaking services for the benefit of the children, parents and staff at Porchester Junior School.

The school has a proven track record for delivering high quality education to children and we are therefore seeking to attract a caretaker to maintain the school to a high standard of cleanliness throughout.


The role of caretaker is demanding and the successful candidate will be expected to deliver the full range of Caretaking, Maintenance, Janitorial and Cleaning duties as laid down by site. The successful candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to demonstrate a practical knowledge of DIY and work based Health and Safety for both him/herself and others in a workplace environment.


The successful candidate will be required to work a split shift between the hours of 6am – 10:30am and 3pm – 6pm which should be flexible to meet the changing needs of the site.


You will be required to take responsibility for the cleaning of a designated area within the site as well as janitorial and porterage responsibilities for both the interior and exterior of the building, dealing with contractors and fault identification. It will also be a requirement that electrical cleaning machinery such as buffing machines must be used periodically.


The successful candidate will be required to act as one of the main key holders for the site and attend alarm activations as required, for which additional payments will be made, as well as having responsibility for securing the site daily.
