This is an exciting opportunity for a person with excellent communication and planning skills to join the Emergency Planning Team at Nottinghamshire County Council. Reporting to an Emergency Planning Team Manager and working in a highly regarded team of professionals, you will create, maintain and validate emergency response arrangements to cope with any form of major emergency affecting Nottinghamshire. You will also play a key role in business continuity planning for the County Council.

As well as working across the organisation the post involves close liaison with a broad range of organisations including local authorities, emergency services, government departments, voluntary organisations, industry and health organisations. To be successful in your application you must demonstrate your ability to contribute to the work of the team. You will certainly need project management skills, plus the ability to deliver effective presentations and training events.

The post demands an ability to work effectively under pressure and at times of crisis. Also, due to the nature of the task, you must be willing to be called (and respond if necessary) outside normal working hours, for which an on-call allowance is payable, and have a full driving licence and access to a car.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
