The Governors of this friendly, caring school are looking to appoint an inspirational SENCO. You must have a warm smiley face that makes every child feel special. You must be able to laugh at jokes you don't understand, or you don't find funny! At the same time, you need to be able to lead and further develop inclusion and SEN within the school, joining our highly committed team.
Candidates should have:

  • The ability to have lots of fun in the workplace. Laughter is something you can expect to engage in for a large part of your working day.
  • Qualified Teacher status with several years of experience in the classroom as well as the National Award for SEN Co-ordination or be working towards this.
  • Experience of positive impact when working with children with Special Educational Needs
  • The desire to make a positive impact on pupils with a range of different abilities and needs – SEND, LAC, Pupil Premium, Social Care.
  • A thorough knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and Pathway to Provision.
  • The skills to work effectively with the Head teacher and SLT to strategically support SEN children and their families.
  • The ability to lead staff in developing their knowledge and expertise in working with SEN children developing outstanding provision and results.
  • The ability to support and extend the work of teaching assistants working with SEN children.
  • Good management and organisational skills and experience of leading/managing other staff.
  • A friendly, supportive, understanding manner when working with parents/carers.
  • Experience of liaison with a variety of external agencies.
  • A thorough knowledge of safeguarding procedures in schools.
  • A strong belief in the potential of all children expecting high levels of achievement, as well as encouraging our children to show grit and determination which will prepare them for challenges.
  • Develop active and creative minds within all our children.
  • Carry out a caring, nurturing role for our children promoting confidence, self-belief and resilience.
  • Believe in the importance of developing an exciting and safe learning place to develop our children’s love of school.
  • Be inspired by innovation and excited by challenges.
  • Be creative, energetic and have a positive outlook (or at least make everyone think you have no matter how bad your day may be).
  • Display pride in all you and our children strive to achieve.
  • Finally, you must be prepared to feel loved, special and important to many children and their families. There is simply no other job quite like this one.
