Required from October 2019

Outwood Academy Portland places students at the centre of everything it does, with a focus on creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning and increased student attainment, achievement and social and emotional development. Required to start in October 2019, we have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Manager to join our team of experienced Learning Managers.

You will be required to support learning through the use of data, strategic intervention and monitoring in order to maximise student attainment. You will monitor all students in the year group, until they leave the academy in Year 11, both academically and pastorally.   You will work closely with the Inclusion Co-ordinator, our Bridge and PLC provision and the Vice Principal Deep Support on Intervention Strategies to support the academic achievement of all students. Your role will have emphasis on intervention and student tracking throughout the day using the school’s “Praising Stars” system. You will attend case conferences and other meetings regarding students in your year alongside preparing referrals and reports for those students identified as needing intervention.

You will contribute to an atmosphere of respect, recognition, optimism, celebration and mutual support in the school which promotes equality within, and values the diversity of the school community.

Our staff are dedicated to securing the best possible outcomes for every student and are enormously proud of Ofsted’s Outstanding rating awarded in 2014. The academy is ranked well within the top 10% of schools nationally for student progress and in 2019 83% of our students achieved Grade 4 or above in English and Maths.

We are a warm and welcoming academy, where students are placed at the heart of everything. Behaviour across the academy is impeccable. There is an innovative focus on the development of learning and teaching, along with a wealth of exciting curriculum opportunities to ensure that students reach their full potential.

The Academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools, which affords opportunities for staff to work and progress across several schools if desired. We will guarantee every member of staff CPD and a further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through the teaching school at Outwood Grange Academy.

Visits to the Academy are encouraged and warmly welcomed.
