Headteacher

Permanent
Full Time
Willoughby Primary School, Church Lane, Willoughby-on-the-Wolds, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE12 6SS
L6-L15

Start date: 4th September 2023

An excellent opportunity to lead a classic village primary school at the heart of a vibrant rural community, yet accessible to several larger cities. With a good recent Ofsted, secure finances, experienced staff and a skilled governing body, this role offers the chance to lead the development of our school into the future. The role requires some teaching, which will allow you to develop your vision of an effective curriculum for schools like Willoughby. We have a strong sense of togetherness and Ofsted recently said that ‘Pupils described the school as ‘like a big family’.

We are looking for a person who is ambitious to develop their own leadership skills, who values the advantages that come from being ‘small’ and also has a passion for developing an exciting curriculum in mixed age classes. You will have an understanding of the importance that a school plays in a rural community and lots of ideas about how to work with our village and how the village can work with your school. We can offer you a secure starting point, the support of enthusiastic governors, and the opportunity to develop your own strategy for how our school can thrive into the future.

Due to our size, it is necessary for the headteacher to contribute to teaching – normally in Key Stage Two. We believe this will allow you to lead on the development of our curriculum so that we can be a model example of what village schools should be like.

Our recent Ofsted report began with the words, ‘From the moment that they start school, pupils feel special.’ We are looking for an extra-special person to lead us on our next steps.

To request an information pack, please contact the school office on 01509 880620 or office@willoughby.notts.sch.uk. An application form is also available to download below.
