Nottinghamshire County Council Building Cleaning Service in conjunction with Sutton-cum-Lound Primary School requires a new Caretaker. Working a 20 hour week you will be required to clean and maintain the building and offer a range of caretaking services for the benefit of pupils, parents and staff.

The school is situated just outside of Retford in the village of Sutton-cum-Lound and works closely with the local community.  The internal decoration of the school has been recently modernised and the school will be undergoing an extension to one of the classrooms later in the year.  A separately managed pre-school is on site.  Therefore, the school in partnership with pre-school, educates pupils from the age of 2 to 11.

The successful candidate will be the main key holder for the site and will have overall responsibility for looking after the cleanliness and janitorial aspects of the building on a day to day basis.  It is essential that the school is cleaned to a very high standard to ensure the environment is conducive to the delivery of education for the children.

Sutton-cum-Lound Primary School has been successful in securing a range of grants and funding over recent years to improve the site and resources within school and we need the successful candidate to take pride in the appearance of the whole school site, to maintain a high level of presentation to both the interior and exterior of the building.

We would like the successful candidate to carry out handy person duties and support staff in providing resources for the children to enhance their learning experiences e.g. constructing role play areas in the classroom.

The successful candidate will be required to work a split shift operation between the hours of 6.45-8.45 and 4pm-6pm Monday to Friday.

The post will require you to work predominately using your own initiative and you will be expected to program your own daily routine to meet the needs of the site, working closely with staff.

The school is proud of its' achievements and commitment to all of its' pupils reaching their full potential and we are looking forward to the successful candidate joining the team.

Previous experience of this type of work would be advantageous but ideally we are looking for someone with interest and a high degree of commitment to ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff, children and visitors to the school.

We are committed to protecting the wellbeing of children following the ‘Safer Recruiting’ procedures when making appointments and therefore this post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, medical and satisfactory references.

If you would like to visit the school prior to submitting your application, please contact the school on 01777 705990
