Working pattern: 16¼ hours per week , term time only.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated EYFS team at Edgewood Primary School in January 2016. The successful candidate will need skills to work within a team supporting a child registered as severely sight impaired on a 1:1 basis. This will entail supporting a wide range of needs including the development of the child’s confidence to explore environments, managing tactile defensive behaviours and frustrations, supporting mobility with a focus on developing crawling and walking, supporting toileting / changing, supporting the development of speech and language understanding alongside non-verbal communication. The successful candidate will receive training in the above alongside existing staff. The candidate will need good communication skills as liaison with staff, parents and health agencies will be central to the development of the child’s needs. They will be expected to contribute towards reviewing and planning sessions, and provide general support to the teacher with the management of pupils and the classroom.

The length of the contract will depend on additional funding being in place and will cease if that funding ends.
