SEND Coordinator and Designated Safeguarding Lead Role

Permanent
Full Time
Brierley Forest Primary and Nursery School, Westbourne View, Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. NG17 2HT
MPS–UPS + TLR2

We need an energetic, positive and resilient SENDCO and Safeguarding Lead to join our team as we transform the learning experience of the children attending our school. Here at Brierley Forest Primary & Nursery School the transformation is already underway; we have a fully refurbished and redesigned EYFS unit and Key Stage 1 playground, alongside our new purpose built school and our curriculum is underpinned by a commitment to securing excellent learning behaviours. Learning is further enriched by a range of challenging and exciting activities such as climbing and paddle power but there is more to do.

This is a dual role and we are looking for someone who enjoys ‘thinking outside of the box’ to work with our staff team in further transforming our approach to SEND alongside continuing the effective approach we have to safeguarding at Brierley Forest. The role is not class based, but there will be opportunities work with individuals and groups of children as you take the lead on bespoke interventions for children who fall into both aspects of the role. You will have the opportunity to lead and build the team of Teaching Assistants who will support you in ensuring inspirational and effective provision for our children.

If you are a confident and skilled practitioner who can quickly build effective relationships with children, including those who sometimes display challenging behaviour and you have an interest in developing your leadership skills, then this could be the ideal post for you to develop your skills and progress your career.

Holding the SENDCO award and Designated Safeguarding Lead qualification are not a must, however some experience of either or both aspects of the role is required.

Please include a supporting statement of no more than 1000 words with your application. The statement will demonstrate your track record for supporting children to achieve high academic standards and will evidence your creative and effective approaches to improving provision for children with SEND.

Visits to the school are very welcome and will give you the opportunity to find out about our school and how you could contribute to our future development.
