An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Welfare Benefits Adviser to join our well known charity team at Citizens Advice Sherwood & Newark (an independent and innovative advice organisation providing holistic and specialist advice to support local people).

As part of our specialist advice team, you will be helping people living in Newark & Sherwood with Universal Credit, Housing Benefits and other welfare benefit claims, along with assisting backdated claims, appeals and providing advice on maximising clients’ income. 

This is a varied role and you must be able to oversee the advice service on designated days, support a small team of advisers and manage a caseload. A dynamic and independent self-starter, you will be skilled at managing complex information and competing priorities. You will share our commitment to the very real and positive impact Citizens Advice has on the people and communities it serves.

Benefits: 6% contributions to employer’s pension scheme; 30 days annual leave

You must have an in-depth knowledge of welfare benefits including Universal Credit; disability and sickness benefits and tax credits along with at least 12 months' complex welfare benefits casework experience. You’ll have excellent communication and advocacy skills, complemented with strong IT skills and ability to analyse and interpret information.
