We have an exciting full time job opportunity for a newly qualified or experienced Occupational Therapist to join Mansfield Living Well Team. We are an established and highly supportive multi-disciplinary team, who work with people between the ages of 18-65 across a range of disabilities and long-term conditions.  You will understand the vital role of the Occupational Therapist in promoting a younger person’s independence, reducing, and delaying the need for long term services and identifying therapy led options to enable people to live safely and independently in their own home.  You will demonstrate resilience, passion, and commitment to working with younger adults in achieving their personalised therapy outcomes using strength-based approaches, promoting the principles of choice and control, and self-directed support.

You will work alongside other Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and Community Care Officers and undertake occupational therapy assessments using a range of health and social care tools and techniques. Collaborative working with other agencies, district council departments, family and health colleagues is essential to get the best for the person.  You will have a sound knowledge of relevant social care and housing legislation.  In your work with the person, you will be establishing what an individual can do from a functional point of view. How can we support them to improve?  You will be identifying and discussing appropriate condition management techniques with the individual and their carers to maximise independence.  You will work closely with local housing providers to identify suitable housing to meet individuals’ identified needs.

You may wish to offer several solutions such as assistive technology, minor adaptations, major adaptations, equipment – let’s think creatively and laterally. An example would be how we have unique opportunities and skills to create or redesign people’s homes, which means they can engage in activities around the home which are of upmost importance to them. Experience of equipment and adaptations is desirable but not essential as training can be provided.  There is an expectation that OT’s work in partnership with colleagues across other districts to manage pressures and achieve the best outcomes for the people of Nottinghamshire.

Now, what can we offer you –

  • A local government pension scheme.
  • A generous annual leave allowance and paid bank holidays.
  • A supported year in employment for those newly qualified.
  • Supervision from a senior Occupational Therapist. You will receive regular supervision both formally and informally from a Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist (SPOT).
  • Support and training to progress your career and meet the HCPC’s CPD requirements.
  • Access to weekly peer supervision and county wide OT huddle meetings.
  • Access to the latest mobile working technology.
  • Hybrid working.

You must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and be registered with the HCPC. For Band B, applicants will have at least 2 years’ experience as a qualified OT. A full driving license and access to a car to use for work purpose is essential (a taxi service will be provided where disability precludes this).
