Nottinghamshire County Council recognises the essential contribution that Occupational Therapists make towards promoting the independence of people with disability and age related conditions.

Occupational Therapists are already integral to our START (short term assessment and reablement teams) service. Performance outcomes for START are excellent and the service is highly regarded; these three additional posts have been created to further enhance the links between the hospital discharge process and START.

Each Occupational Therapist will work with one of our three Acute Hospital Integrated Discharge Teams to support timely and appropriate referrals to START and our bridging and core homecare providers; in order to maximise the independence of service users at the point of discharge. They will work closely with homecare providers to educate and promote a strong home-first and reablement approach in order to enhance effectiveness and capacity.

The work will include skill sharing with health sector therapists around use of appropriate equipment, reducing risk aversion culture and assessing the need for appropriate ongoing support in terms of double-to-single-handed care. Line management and supervision will be from qualified Occupational Therapists and staff will use the latest mobile working technology.

Candidates will be required to work flexibly including some weekend/Bank Holidays as requested.

Grades will be Hay band A or B depending on experience.

The three sites are Bassetlaw District General Hospital, Worksop; Kings Mill Hospital, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham.

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
