An opportunity has arisen for the post of permanent, full time assistant care manager at Minster View Children's Home in Southwell.

Minster View is part of an overall Children and Families Strategy within Nottinghamshire's Residential Child Care provision (Children’s Disability Services). It provides residential accommodation for 7 children with a further 5 short break beds available Minster View will offer 52 week residential provision for 7 children and children between the ages of 7 and 18 and short term breaks provision for another 5 aged between 4 and 18. The home can also provide day care.

Minster View provides care for children with significant learning disabilities and associated challenging behaviours. We are seeking a resilient and dynamic individual to join a proactive and skilled team. You will be part of a management team and will be required to provide effective and robust support to the Registered Manager. The successful applicant will have strong leadership skills and be able to provide direct support to staff and children in managing complex and challenging behaviours.

You will be passionate about working with children whilst having a genuine understanding of the challenges that they and their families face. The post holder will assist the Registered Manager in developing and implementing the philosophy of the home, contribute to the development of services for children and families and participate in reviewing the effectiveness, quality and equality of service delivery.

You will be responsible for a variety of managerial tasks in what can be a stressful environment and as part of the management team you will work alongside three other assistant care managers to support the Registered Manager and deputise in the Registered Manager's absence.

We are looking for someone who must have a minimum of 3 years residential child care experience and be qualified at NVQ level 3 (CCYP or H&SC) or equivalent plus 1 year post qualifying experience. You must also be able to evidence regular training experiences and be prepared to undertake a management qualification. 

The working hours for this post are varied and includes working weekends, bank holidays, mornings and evenings and participation in the on-call duty system.
