Residential Child Care Officer
Required as soon as possible a part-time 18.5 hours, term time only, Residential Child Care Officer to assist in the evening and morning running of the school’s residential facility. The facility operates for 2 nights per week Monday and Tuesday and caters for a small number of children with specific physical disabilities.
The facility aims to provide an educational experience, in which students can develop their independence skills and work towards future supported self-living.
We are looking for committed, preferably experienced and qualified staff who will assist in further developing and implementing the philosophy of the school through the 24 hour curriculum. Duties will include assisting pupils in the development and implementation of their Care Plans and Individual Education Plans in liaison with other professionals, monitoring and recording pupil progress against individual targets, and assisting in the organisation of independence activities. ‘Sleeping in duty’ (on call) may be required on a rota basis for which an additional allowance (£34.00 per night) is paid.
Good communication skills, flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team are essential qualities for the post along with relevant experience of working with children with a range of special needs.
Applicants should preferably hold a relevant Children’s Workforce Level 3 diploma or equivalent in the field of residential child care or be willing to undertake training at this level in their own time whilst in post.
