We are seeking to appoint an inspiring and talented education professional to lead Nottinghamshire County Council’s Education Improvement, Standards and Inclusion services which include a team of specialist SEND professionals who support families and schools across the County as well as a small team of innovative and highly effective education improvement advisers, governing body services and a number of professionals delivering support and challenge to maintained schools and governing bodies. This County is ambitious with a fourfold vision for Nottinghamshire to make it a great place to raise a family; to build a future; to enjoy later life and to start and grow a business.  Nottinghamshire currently has 336 schools (primary, secondary and special). Of this, 138 are academies (41%). Of the 44 secondary schools, 43 are academies whereas a significant number of primary and special schools continue to be maintained by the local authority.

We are seeking applications from forward thinking, experienced senior leaders with highly developed influence and negotiation skills. In addition, the successful candidate will have the vision and leadership qualities to drive continued sustained improvement and excellence across the education sector within the County. 

In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of the education sector at this time of significant change and will be able to nurture existing strong partnerships with key strategic partners including parents and carers, the maintained sector, Multi Academy Trusts, Teaching School Alliances, Dioceses, Regional Schools Commissioners as well as with health and social care partners.    

An understanding of local government statutory education responsibilities as well as demonstrating an ability to manage change, will be essential as this post is key to delivering the ambition of this Council to ensure that all children and young people in Nottinghamshire attend good and outstanding schools and provisions.
