This is an exciting opportunity for talented individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference to the Health and Wellbeing of the children and young people in Nottinghamshire.

We are looking for 2 enthusiastic, dynamic officers who are experienced in project management and working with others to achieve shared outcomes in a continually changing environment.

You will have the ability to raise the profile of this area of work and develop good influencing relationships with a variety of colleagues and partner organisations. Good communication and interpersonal skills are all essential for these fast-moving positions as well as the ability to analyse issues and problems and work towards solutions to specific tight deadlines. An understanding of the children and young people’s agendas would be advantageous.

1. Public Health Support Officer – funded until June 2022

Nottinghamshire County Council has been selected to be one of five local authorities to participate in the Department of Health funded and Local Government Association managed three-year Childhood Obesity Trailblazer Programme. This post will coordinate the delivery of the Childhood Obesity Trailblazer project in Nottinghamshire

2. Public Health Support Officer – funded for 18 months

This post will promote and develop the local uptake of Heathy Start vitamins and develop new innovative approaches in relation to Healthy Start Food Vouchers for eligible Nottinghamshire families.

The posts will be primarily based at County Hall, West Bridgford, with the option to work flexibly from an alternative base at Meadow House in Mansfield, Notts.

Both posts are offered as a full-time equivalent posts (37 hours) on a fixed term basis as set out above. Requests for flexible working will be considered. A job share scheme is also available. Nottinghamshire County Council has a NHS Pension Direction Order in place, which means that we are able to provide ongoing access to the NHS Pension Scheme (NHSPS) where we recruit eligible new joiners to public health roles who are already in the NHSPS.

This post may be available as a secondment opportunity for existing County Council employees. Applicants selected for interview should secure agreement from their manager for the secondment prior to interview
