Midlands Engine – Locally led Development Corporation Programme Director

We are delighted to seek applications for this exciting and important role. The Midlands Engine has been invited by Government to bring forward proposals for a locally led development corporation to drive the delivery of growth and prosperity in the region. Initially, our focus is on the HS2 growth zone around Toton station, the area around East Midlands Airport and the redevelopment of the power station site at Ratcliffe on Soar.

Local partners in the region have responded positively to this opportunity and have formed an Oversight Board to govern the project, drawn down resources from Government and appointed a team of internationally renowned consultants. Recruiting to the Programme Director is a key next step in moving the programme forward.

The Programme Director role will report up to the Senior Responsible Officer for the Programme who is the Chair of the Midlands Engine Operating Board. The role is fixed term for two years based on the availability of Government funding and is available as a secondment or as a fixed term appointment. The role will be hosted by Nottinghamshire County Council on behalf of the Midlands Engine and the post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with Local Enterprise Partnerships, Local Councils, Universities and businesses as well as other key partners and stakeholders across the region and in Government.

This is a hugely important role for the Midlands Engine and for local partners. The Programme Director will be responsible for ensuring the region moves forward in partnership with a robust, well evidenced business case for a locally led body. A job description is attached below and further information is available on request.
