Toot Hill School is an Outstanding (Ofsted, 2012) 11-18 Academy in the rural market town of Bingham, named as the best town in England and Wales to raise a family in November 2013.

We are looking to appoint a suitably experienced, caring, motivated and self-confident Support Assistant to provide the medical and personal care needs of a Year 10 student. The successful candidate will join our established learning support team on a fixed term basis linked to HNF (High Needs Funding).

The role includes:

  • Assisting in the support and inclusion of this individual within the classroom and school-wide activities
  • Working effectively with parents, school staff and outside agencies to implement advice and strategies.
  • Working one to one with this student during study times
  • Monitoring and assisting this student during break and lunch times.

The vacancy would be suitable for somebody with experience of working with children in the 11-18 age range.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Successful experience working with children or young people in a similar role, preferably in a school environment
  • Sound knowledge and experience of supporting children or young people with their personal care needs.
  • Educated to Level 2 (GCSE) or equivalent qualification /experience
  • Ability to establish rapport and to maintain respectful and trusting relationships
  • The ability to overcome barriers with children by implementing school policies, procedures and identified support mechanisms
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A good understanding of Health and Safety, safeguarding and child protection
  • A commitment to equality and diversity and inclusion
