Home based but working at a number of agreed Nottinghamshire schools.
28th and 29th September 2016
£11.27 - £12.81 per hour

The demand for clerking support for governing bodies in Nottinghamshire is growing. We are therefore seeking to recruit suitably qualified people to act as clerk to the governing bodies of a number of schools and academies within Nottinghamshire.

Successful applicants will be required to attend a number of meetings during term time; these are mainly in the evening but could occasionally take place during the daytime. You will be expected to undertake preparation and follow up work for each meeting. Clerks will be paid a set 8 hours per full governing body meeting and you will be working towards clerking approximately 10 schools per term. Please note that this is a part time post but you would be expected to be available from 4.00p.m. Monday to Thursday.

The clerk is required to advise the governing body on a range of issues including procedural, legal and educational matters and to take minutes of the meeting. Whilst full training will be provided, a basic understanding of governing body procedures and education issues would be advantageous, as would experience of attending formal meetings.

A high standard of written English, good communication, interpersonal skills and IT experience, including word processing, are essential requirements.

Successful applicants will need to arrange their own transport to meetings and should be aware that some of our schools are in rural locations. Travelling expenses to attend meetings will be reimbursed in line with the current County Council policy and rates.

If you have any queries, please contact Jane Mansell on 07860 597832 or Val Whistler on 0115 9772672 in the first instance.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
