Are you looking for your next role within education? Do you have a passion for working with children with SEMH needs? We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced professional to work as a peripatetic teaching assistant in our SEMH (Social & Emotional Mental Health) team, working within the Rushcliffe Behaviour Partnership. The partnership works across the district to promote the inclusion, participation and achievement of children and young people with SEMH needs. We aim to support schools to reduce and prevent exclusions.

As a SEMH practitioner you will contribute to determining the nature and underlying causes of SEMH needs and support children across KS1 and KS2. You will plan appropriate support and interventions, support across the curriculum and in class activities, develop school provision and approaches to meet the pupils’ needs, including restorative approaches, reviewing behaviour policies and managing challenging behaviour, including de-escalation.

We would be interested to hear from people who:

  • Have experience of working with pupils with SEMH needs in mainstream schools, special schools or alternative provision.
  • Can be flexible and adaptive, responding to changing priorities.
  • Enjoy being a member of a team but can also work alone and use your own initiative.
  • Are able to keep daily records of school visit and produce resources, demonstrating proficient IT skills.
  • Have a varied skill set and ability to transfer skills from one setting to another.
  • Are willing to undertake specialist training.
  • Are able to drive and have own transport to move between a variety of settings.
  • Have a good sense of humour.
