Due to retirement, Nottinghamshire County Council Building Cleaning Service in conjunction with Albany Infant & Nursery School requires a new caretaker. Working a 35 hour week you will be required to clean and maintain the building and offer a range of caretaking services for the benefit of pupils, parents and staff.

Albany Infant & Nursery School serves the community of Stapleford. This is an urban area on the outskirts of Nottingham city. It is adjacent to Albany Junior School. The pupils are drawn from a mixture of private and local authority housing.

We are an innovative forward thinking school with high standards and a good reputation in the local community. Governors and parents are very supportive of the school. We value the importance of providing opportunities for Continuing Professional Development to all staff.

In summer 2017 we have 210 children on roll. This figure includes 52 children in part-time education in Foundation Stage 1. Currently classes for full time pupils are organised into two Foundation Stage 2 classes and four Key Stage 1 classes.

Working a split shift you will be a key holder and will be expected to deliver the full range of caretaking, maintenance, janitorial and cleaning duties. You should have a keen eye for detail and be able to demonstrate a practical knowledge of DIY skills.

You will need to be smart in appearance, wearing a provided uniform and need to be flexible in your approach to lettings, for which additional payments will be made. We would want you to work positively with staff and parents and be a good team worker.

Previous experience of this type of work would be advantageous but ideally we are looking for someone with interest and a high degree of commitment to ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff, children and visitors to the school.

We are committed to protecting the well being of children following the ‘Safer Recruiting’ procedures when making appointments and therefore this post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, medical and satisfactory references.

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
