We are seeking to appoint a full time SEN Teaching Assistant to cover maternity leave. The position is offered on a fixed term basis from September 2023 to 31 July 2024 (or ending upon the return of the substantive postholder, whichever is sooner).

You will join a team of dedicated staff at a fantastic primary school, making a position contribution in supporting the increased numbers of SEND pupils on roll. We are therefore looking for an inspirational, committed and enthusiastic individual who will:

•  Supervise and provide support for pupils with special educational needs and or/disabilities, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
•  Plan and provide practical assistance in relation to identified physical needs
•  Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes
•  Establish a constructive relationship with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs
•  Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils and encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
•  Set challenging and demanding expectations, promoting self-esteem and independence
•  Provide feedback to pupils and teachers in relation to progress and achievement 
•  Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work
•  Using strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
•  Assist with the planning of learning activities, monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievements/progress as directed
•  Work with and act upon guidance provided by teachers and other professionals such as Inclusion Services, Speech Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Moving and Handling Specialists
•  Have good literacy and numeracy skills together with NVQ level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualifications, or be working towards NVQ level 3 for Teaching Assistants, experience of supporting children in a classroom environment and a general understanding of the National Curriculum requirements and other basic learning programmes/strategies; knowledge of First Aid, experience of working as part of a team.
