We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced teacher to our supportive, hardworking and successful Cognition and Learning Team. The team is part of Nottinghamshire County Council’s Schools and Families Specialist Services.

You will use your knowledge, skills and experience to develop and deliver effective strategies/interventions aimed at improving outcomes for children and young people with a wide variety of complex cognition difficulties in Key Stages 2-5. You will work at a variety of levels, using positive and inclusive approaches to provide support and advice to school staff, liaising with parents and engaging in direct teaching, where appropriate. Support from dedicated specialist teaching assistants ensures that a flexibility of approaches can be offered.

You would also be involved in providing support to Nottinghamshire’s Family of school structure through Family SENCos and SENCos and the newly developing District SENCo role, in order to strengthen provision for pupils with SEND in their localities.

We are looking for teachers who are knowledgeable about the National Curriculum, appropriate interventions and the barriers young people with complex cognition needs can face. We welcome applications from highly motivated, creative practitioners, who enjoy working in a collaborative, solution- focussed way. You will part of a very supportive team, working across the County as required.

This is a permanent (part-time) appointment but we would also consider a secondment from a suitably qualified teacher who has prior management approval, or a job share arrangement. The post carries an authorised car user allowance.

For an informal discussion about these posts please contact Cath Page on 0115 8546464.

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
