This role is predominately non-teaching to facilitate high quality leading and monitoring of all SEND aspects within the school, although the SENDCo may be expected to teach, potentially taking PPA and cover.

The governors and staff are looking for someone who is:

  • An outstanding communicator and has excellent interpersonal skills with pupils, staff and families.
  • Resilient and self-aware - can rise to the challenges of our school.
  • Experienced in working with pupils with challenging behaviour and additional SEND/SEMH needs.
  • A positive influencer and role model for our whole school community.
  • Committed to continual professional development.
  • Able to think creatively and be resourceful to ensure all our children can be the very best they can be.

The Children are looking for someone who will:

  • be resilient
  • accept mistakes as part of learning
  • engage in the wider life of school
  • be creative
  • be honest about their work
  • be patient
  • be fun and have a sense of humour
  • treat everyone equally but recognise that all children are different
  • be kind and caring
  • be dedicated to the children
  • celebrate achievements

In return, Team Larkfields offers:

  • Wonderfully fantastic pupils who are very proud of their school and have a strong pupil voice.
  • A well-equipped sensory room and alternative provision (this currently supports 6 children).
  • An established, extensive well-being and mental health programme including ELSA, Place 2 Be and many other interventions and support programmes.
  • Extensive outdoor grounds with a range of different areas to use for learning.
  • Supportive parents and school community with high expectations.
  • A dedicated team of governors who are passionate about providing the best education possible.
  • A fabulous staff team who are positive, caring and extremely committed to providing excellent outcomes for children - and who are also a bit bonkers but good fun!
