Working pattern: 32½ hours per week, term time only, 8:15am to 3:45pm with a 1 hour lunch.

Main purposes of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed member of staff to join our dedicated team at Edgewood Primary School in January. The role is to cover part of the role our Pastoral Support Leader while she is on maternity leave and will end when she chooses to return to work. The role will be split between two core functions; In the morning the successful candidate will monitor and chase up children with attendance causing concern. This will include actions such as making phone calls to parents and visiting houses to provide support to parents in getting children into school. The rest of the day will involve providing classroom assistance to teachers in administrative and other activities in line with the duties expected of a classroom assistant.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be key for the successful candidate. They will need to communicate effectively with pupils and parents in their attendance role and with other staff in school for both roles. Other essential skills are a good level of qualifications and competency in English and Maths; a good range of ICT skills; and the ability to manage own workload and use own initiative. An awareness of the importance of confidentiality and of the safeguarding of children is essential.
