We require a skilled and enthusiastic individual who will provide high quality Mental Health Act assessments as part of the Countywide AMHP Team. The person appointed will be based at Sherwood Energy Village, Ollerton, but will be expected to travel throughout Nottinghamshire County undertaking Mental Health Act Assessments, advising colleagues about matters relating to mental health, and fulfilling the challenging demands placed upon the team. Flexible working is an essential skill given the nature of the work undertaken and the team may develop different approaches to the provision of work in the future.

You will be part of a team of 12.5 FTE Approved Mental Health Professionals, 2 AMHP Team Managers and an attached business support administrator. Your duties will also include manning a single point triage system, gathering assessment information to deploy colleagues to assessments throughout the county, supporting the team manager and other team members in updating Mental Health Act information which includes supervising AMHPs and AMHP trainees.

Good communication skills, record keeping, report writing and familiarity with the department’s information systems will be an advantage. You will be working with Service Users, their carers, and a range of fellow professionals and partner agencies. You will be required to deputise for the team manager on occasions. You must be able to work on your own initiative and meet deadlines whilst working under pressure and have an awareness of and a commitment to Equality and Diversity as well as Health and Safety issues.

You must ideally be a practising AMHP or hold the relevant AMHP qualification to be shortlisted. Recently qualified AMHPs will be considered dependent on their overall experience. Job share or part time requests will be considered.

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
