An exciting opportunity has arisen working as a Capital Accountant in the Financial Strategy and Accounting team based at County Hall. 

The Financial Strategy and Accounting team is responsible for constructing the Authority’s Annual Budget Report and producing the Statement of Accounts as well as providing regular financial monitoring reports to Senior Management and Members. As part of the team, this role will be responsible for providing high quality financial advice, ensuring accurate maintenance of the Authority’s Asset Registers and leading on the capital accounting process for the statutory final accounts. This role will also be responsible for ensuring that the Authority complies with the Local Authority Accounting Code of Practice particularly with due regard to the new IFRS16 leasing standard.

You will preferably be a fully qualified CCAB accountant or a minimum of AAT qualified with substantial post-qualification experience of working in a financial environment with a range of financial systems and processes. Experience of the technical aspects of financial accounting would also be of benefit. You must be able to manage your own and others performance to meet objectives and provide an excellent customer focused service. The ability to work on your own initiative, pay attention to detail and understand and interpret complex information is essential, as are good communication, interpersonal and excel skills.
