About the nursery

Child First Welbeck is a unique, child centred outdoor nursery situated within the stunning grounds on the Welbeck Estate. Child First Welbeck is a beautiful, renovated chicken shed, with lots of character.

The 90 place nursery is comprises of different spaces : These include Nestlings (babies), Hatchlings (1-2), Fledglings (2-3), Chicks (3-4) and Roosters (4-5)

Children are able to cook on the fire pit, use real tools, create master pieces in the outside art studio, or relax in a hammock. It is a totally child led environment, and our ethos is very unique and centred around learning through play.

About You

Your key responsibility will be to work successfully as part of a team with other practitioners and management to provide a high standard of emotional, social and intellectual care for all children at the nursery, whilst ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children at all times.

Essential - The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a full and relevant Early Years qualification either Level 3 or equivalent
  • Have post qualifying experience with children ages 0-5 years old
  • Have a solid knowledge of the EYFS
  • Have an up-to-date Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene
  • Need a clear and valid DBS
  • Be flexible with start and finishing times (opportunity for additional hours)
  • Be a team-player who is enthusiastic, hardworking and committed to a career within childcare
  • Be passionate about working in an outdoors environment
  • Be professional and approachable

Desirable - The successful candidate will:

  • Be Forest School trained
  • Think outside of the box, and be a little quirky
  • Great sense of humour

Your Responsibilities and Duties will involve:

  • Contribute to a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children and the Early Years Framework.
  • Understand key children’s culture, first language and current development plans to identify areas for improvement, working with colleagues to provide a stimulating environment for children to meet emotional, intellectual and social goals.
  • Maintaining accurate records of children’s development and use information learnt to support future planning, development and learning.
  • Work in partnership with parents and other colleagues to ensure that the needs of the child are always met, and parents have an involvement in the child’s learning journey.
