Do you have the skills, time and genuine commitment to support adopted young people and their families for as long as they need? Working with young people who have experienced disruption and distress, currently living in families under stress, you will require: direct work skills, an understanding of the impact of adoption, the ability to stick with young people through challenging and turbulent situations and have at least 2 evenings free each week to offer PALS support.

Able to work flexibly after school and/or at weekends and to travel across the county (though we do try to match PALS geographically), committed to supporting young people with a range of needs from emotional to social developmental delay, challenging behaviour, confidence and/or self-esteem issues. You will be compassionate, reliable, resilient, patient and able to commit to supporting young people for at least 3 years.

PALS Workers are required to undertake regular individual and group supervision and training - held on Tuesday evenings. Five sessions are offered annually, and PALS Workers are required to attend 2 of these.

This is a Casual Contract with no guarantee but a high likelihood of a 3-6 PALS hours per week. PALS workers are required to have a minimum of 2 links with young people, so this is a great role for people looking for a new challenge, with at least 2 evenings spare per week and a genuine commitment to support young people through their most challenging years. You will need to be someone with great resilience and the ability to stick with young people through difficult times to achieve their potential to be a successful PALS Worker.
