We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Social Worker who would like to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable adults across the Nottinghamshire County who are detained in a Nottinghamshire County Prison (Whatton, Ranby and Lowdham).

This specialist role involves fulfilling statutory obligations under The Care Act 2014 by linking and working directly with these 3 prisons to assess needs whether that be whilst still in prison, moving on into the community or another authority.

You will receive appropriate training and regular supervision. This is an autonomous role where you will be expected to work on your own initiative, managing your day with support from your line manager. Work base is to be agreed at time of appointment and you will be working flexibly across the county where work demands alongside smarter working policy.

You will need to have:

  • At least two years Social Work qualification (including HCPC registration).
  • AMHP or BIA qualification is essential and you will continue to be in the district rotas.
  • A good value base, emotional resilience and the ability to reflect on practice is key to this role.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards community care and safeguarding legislation.
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and link in with district teams.
  • Knowledge of Nottinghamshire’s Adult Social Care Strategy and an understanding of relevant policy and legislation underpinning social work practice.
  • Experience of managing risk and working in line with the Prison Service Instruction model, working in partnership with other agencies including Probation, Parole Services and the Prisons is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of working with complex cases.
  • Have effective communication, organisational and IT skills which are essential tools to aid developing flexible working practices.
