This is an exciting opportunity to join the Complex Lives Team working alongside the Community Forensic Team as a Social Worker.

As a valued member of this team, you will need to have a good understanding and experience of the application of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983. Experienced candidates will be expected to undertake the role of Care Act assessments, support planning, risk assessing, commissioning and supporting discharges of forensic patients. A key function of the role will also focus on providing 'Social Supervision' and reporting back to the Ministry of Justice for people who are subject to section 41 of the Mental Health Act. The caseload will be relatively small to enable effective risk management. You will have experience of working creatively with adults who have care and support needs and will bring a commitment to the principles of strength’s-based practice, promoting independence and wellbeing whilst safely managing risks.

The post holder will work within the Complex Lives Team but will also work closely with the Community Forensic Team (CFT). The CFT, is made up of an Multi-disciplinary Team and provides care and management to individuals in the community whose cases are complex and high risk.

You will be working in an exciting and sometimes challenging environment in close partnership with external agencies and providers, which will require high levels of confidence and independence. 

You will need to have effective communication, negotiation, organisational and IT skills which are essential tools to aid developing flexible working practices. 

The team has adapted hybrid working, where you will be partly office and partly home based working alongside the CFT team.

In return, you will receive plenty of support and training to help you reach your potential. We will provide regular formal and informal supervision due to the nature of the complex case work.

Candidates must be able to drive and have use of a vehicle for work purposes (a taxi service will be provided where disability precludes this) and registered with Social Work England.
