There is a vacancy at Lyndene Residential Home in Edwinstowe. The post is working with three young people aged between 12 and 18 with emotional and behavioural difficulties and associated learning difficulties. We are looking for a Residential Care Worker who can support young people who have experienced abusive situations and be able to manage very challenging behaviours, including self harming incidents. Therefore it is essential that you have the ability and resilience to support the young people and manage and maintain your own work life balance.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of six months experience of working with children, young people or adults; either in a voluntary; paid work or other relevant setting. If you do not already have the level three diploma, you will be required to register and gain this qualification. You will receive regular supervision and training.

Within this post you will be expected to support the young people both in and out of the home to develop interests and skills in a range of social activities. You need to have a general awareness of issues and policies relating to young people. Have a good understanding of health and safety. We are looking for someone who is calm, patient, has the ability to use their own initiative and able to have resilience in difficult situations enabling the most positive outcomes.

It is essential that you can integrate with our small but successful team here at Lyndene. A flexible approach is needed as you will be part of a small team following a rota that includes morning & afternoons, sleep in’s, weekend and bank holiday work. Shift work has a big impact on your lifestyle and you will need to consider this when applying for the post.

Part of your role would be working to achieve and maintain high standards of quality and efficiency in services provided by the County Council and Children’s Families and Cultural Services. You need to be committed, well motivated, enthusiastic and resilient with a passion to ensure that the young people we look after are safe, happy, healthy and well educated.
