The Registration and Celebratory Service strives to deliver the best possible service to customers registering their most significant life events with us: births, deaths, marriages, civil partnerships or gaining citizenship.

The Registration Support Officer is a front-line role vital to all our registration services: first point of contact for the majority of customers; providing clerical and administrative support to their team (and others) to ensure the smooth running of the office.  Daily tasks include: searching of electronic records and production of copy certificates; maintenance of paper and electronic records and office systems; dealing with financial and procurement issues; making appointments; helping customers and stakeholders on a wide range of issues face to face, by telephone or in writing; providing the highest standards of customer service at all times. There may also be the opportunity to be trained to provide emergency cover to act as a ceremony officiant.

To help us achieve our ambition of continuing to deliver an exceptionally high level of customer service, we wish to strengthen our small team with two part-time persons, 3 days each. Specific days by agreement, but both will be required on Mondays.

Necessary skills you will need include:

  • enthusiasm and drive;
  • excellent organisational skills;
  • the highest levels of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • a strong customer focus;
  • a good standard of written and spoken English;
  • confident communication skills with customers from all walks of life;
  • a good level of numeracy;
  • a flexible approach to work within a small team;
  • competence in the use of a range of IT systems;
  • adherence to strict rules of confidentiality and working within the Data Protection Act.

Although the role is based in Bulwell, you may occasionally be required to provide support at Mansfield and/or West Bridgford.

For further information please contact Mirek Rus on 0115 8041911.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
