Nottinghamshire’s Education Improvement Service is seeking to appoint a highly experienced and effective Senior Practitioner or Adviser with up-to-date knowledge and experience of working with children and young people with severe and complex special educational needs (SEND) in a mainstream or special school setting. The Education Improvement Service is part of a comprehensive group of services to schools, which are innovative and forward thinking. You will have a substantial existing knowledge of the range of challenges facing children with SEND and will demonstrate a deep understanding of the needs of the child. You will be able to use this understanding to inform our support to schools, ensuring that Senior Leaders and Practitioners in schools are confident and effective in planning and delivering provision for these vulnerable children and young people.

This key role contributes to the vision and ambitions in ‘Your Nottinghamshire, Your Future 2017-21’. You will connect and work positively with a wide range of partners to build capacity and knowledge in the education system to ensure that vulnerable children fulfil their potential.

The key skills needed for this post will include the ability to:

  • think strategically and lead the development of policy and practice.
  • establish effective professional relationships, and respect and influence the ideas and practice of others.
  • coach and mentor others in the development and modelling of good practice.
  • lead moderation of SEND and allocation of resources, including budget management.

You should also note the specific role dimensions as described in the attached job description.
