Required 32.5 hours per week, 52 weeks.

Fountaindale School provides a specialist curriculum provision for PMLD pupils. We are seeking to appoint a Grade 5, Teaching Assistant to lead a specialist group for identified pupils, who require a high level of sensory provision, to support their learning and development. This role will involve managing a small support staff team, working with the lead teacher to plan and assessment of learning.

This post involves:

  • Planning a sensory rich curriculum and nurturing provision
  • Assessment and recording of learning
  • Leading and managing a team of teaching and personal care assistants
  • Providing and supporting learning opportunities with-in a specialist provision
  • Recognising personal and health care needs, ensuring needs are well managed to support access to learning.
  • Supporting off-site visits, including out of hours and residential visits
  • Safeguarding
  • Health and safety
  • Supporting personal and health care needs
  • Working in cooperation with other team members
  • Professional communication with parents and other professionals
  • Experience of working in an educational provision is essential. Training and CPD opportunities will be available to the successful applicant.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a secure understanding of child development and learning
  • Experience of delivering a sensory approach to learning
  • Experience of planning and assessment
  • Recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
  • GCSE level qualifications (or equivalent)
  • Understanding of curriculum and pedagogy
  • Have the ability to build excellent, professional and supportive relationships with our pupils and parents.
  • Maintain professional relationships with other professionals
  • Have good communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the class teacher
  • Ability to show initiative, when necessary
  • A professional approach to all aspects of the role
  • Support and project the values of the school
  • A secure understanding of safeguarding
  • Recognise and comply with high standards of health and safety
  • Engage with all training required for this role
  • A drive to engage with CPD opportunities and an on-going desire to develop their knowledge and practise.
