The Governors of Beeston Fields Primary and Nursery School would like to invite applications for the position of Catering Manager at our school.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in a "Healthy schools” environment. As the Catering Manager, you will be preparing a variety of nutritious meals every day, with the support of your catering team, using local produce and fresh ingredients.

You will be responsible for the smooth operation of the kitchen, ensuring policies are followed within your environment and leading a team to provide a balanced meal for our children. We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and friendly team player, who can demonstrate a proven ability to achieve budget targets, whilst providing a high quality catering service. You will continue to encourage the pupils at this school to want to have a school meal, and support the school in maintaining a Healthy School status.

We would like the successful candidate to start as soon as possible.

We welcome applications from qualified candidates with a proven recent record of catering management who are able to provide quality references.

Key responsibilities will include:

1. Sharing in the school’s emphasis on pupils’ health and wellbeing, through developing healthy eating and locally sourced food supplies.

2.Sustaining and developing the service, in consultation with parents and children and contributing own ideas.

3.General management of the kitchen, including cooking, cleaning and service of meals.

4. All administration work in connection with catering, including menu planning, food ordering including contract negotiations with suppliers, stock control, costing, staff record sheets and reports as required.

5. Line management of kitchen staff, including day-to-day supervision and compilation of work rotas.

6. Cooking of meals with the other catering staff.

7. Participating in preparation and cleaning.

8. Managing the training and development of staff.

9.Ensuring own training and development needs are met.

10. Undertaking a Performance Review annually and setting targets for the following year.

11. Inducting new staff in kitchen routines, health and safety training and correct cooking methods.

12. Maintaining appropriate equipment ensuring health and safety is of a high standard.

13. Organising maintenance contracts and repairs of equipment.

14. Maintaining a strict adherence to health and safety regulations and standards.

15. Following agreed budgetary guideline and targets, administering budget appropriately on a day-to-day basis.

16. Being involved in marketing the service.

17. Participating in the life of the whole school as a valued member of staff.
