Depending on individual circumstances, you will primarily be based remotely at home or at County Hall.

Experience of a similar role is preferred but not essential. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with excellent communication and planning skills to join the Emergency Planning Team at Nottinghamshire County Council.  Working in a highly regarded team of professionals, you will create, maintain and validate emergency response arrangements to cope with any form of major emergency affecting Nottinghamshire. You will also play a key role in business continuity planning for the County Council.

As well as working across the organisation the post involves close liaison with a broad range of organisations including local authorities, emergency services, government departments, voluntary organisations, industry and health organisations. To be successful in your application you must demonstrate your ability to contribute to the work of the team. You will certainly need project management skills, plus the ability to deliver effective presentations and training events.

The post demands an ability to work effectively under pressure and at times of crisis. You will be required to participate in the teams on call duty officer rota (approx. 1 in 8 weeks) and must be willing to be called (and respond if necessary) outside normal working hours, for which an on-call allowance is payable, and have a full driving licence and access to a car. You must live within the county of Nottinghamshire or close by due to the on call / response duties.
